C. Carter Kannapell, jr - President. Carter is a founding member of the Tower Club and has played host to numerous Tower events over the years. A 1986 graduate of Washington and Lee University with a BS in Economics, Carter is a real estate mortgage professional with over 25 years in funding and lending expertise. Carter is an active member within the Washington, DC community, volunteering his time and financial resources to many local charities. Through his years of experience in financing and volunteerism, Carter is able to guide the board in funding priorities and serve as a facilitator and organizer in volunteer and fundraising activities.
Smythe McKinnon Kannapell, CPA - CFO/Treasurer. Smythe was instrumental in establishing The Tower Fund in 2010. After the passing of her father-in-law, she was looking for a way to become more active in the community and do something to memorialize his fight against Alzheimer's. Smythe recognized the unique opportunity for members to help within their community and to pay tribute to one of their founders. She began coordinating group fundraising activities among Tower members. Smythe is a 2015 graduate of The University of Maryland with a Masters of Science in Accountancy and Financial Management. She is CPA-N designated by the DC Board of Accountancy. She has an undergraduate degree in Public Administration. Smythe's professional background is in accounting, investment and financial advisory. She currently works with several non-profit 501(c)(3)'s in the Washington, DC area providing tax and financial advisory services.
Henry T. Ritchie - Secretary. Hank is a founding member of the Tower Club and has been instrumental in both spearheading and motivating Tower members to give. Through his tireless efforts at fundraising he was able to increase group donations over 50% from 2011 to 2012. A Washington, D.C. native who now lives in San Francisco, Hank's involvement in the Tower enables him to remain active and at the same time give back to the DC community. Hank is a 1986 graduate of Tulane University with a BA in Economics. Hank specializes in business and technology management and is particularly skilled at motivating and leading groups to meet end goals. Hank is an active community leader and volunteer. He brings to the Tower Fund experience in organizing fundraising events and spearheading giving efforts.
